HMRC are overriding previously advised income figures for tax credits with figures filed under the RTI system, therefore double check your income on your annual declaration! **Case study – A client had told the tax credits office in April that their income was £18,000, split between dividends & salary. The RTI filings only showed a salary of £7,680 so they reduced it on his tax credits claim and increased the payments!

Through reviewing the VAT scheme used for a client Andy has identified a method of deferring £10,000 of VAT per quarter.

We had a great meeting with them, running through our standard budget sheet, showing them how to use it, and answering their questions as they arose. Lodge holders saved over £10,000 following Steve’s examination of their service charge statements last week Over £1m of savings identified by Steve for a client looking to pass on their business to the next generation of managers. Emily saved two of our clients a late filing fine of £150 each, by ‘jumping’ on their accounts as soon as the information arrived in the office.

Andy passed a Xero examination last week, and is now accredited as an advisor on this cloud-based accounting software Our newest team member, Oskar, passed his recent Cost and Revenues exam on Friday with a mark of 98%. We think this is brilliant!! Well done Oskar!

Last week, Steve attended the AVN Advancement group workshop that launched the next stage of our development. It was good to meet up with likeminded accountants that are commited to making their clients lives better in every resect. Oskar was the only apprentice to attend an AVN workshop last week. Seems we lead even the best in at least one area!

 Steve identified tax savings of over £1m for a client looking to pass on their business next year! His first £1m saving in any single project. HMRC agreed our share valuation that is a crucial part of another succession plan. By reviewing a clients motor expenses and claiming for mileage, a tax saving of £800 was made. By planning how a husband & wife held their investments we identified a way in which an additional £413 per month could be extracted from their company. Andy helped a subcontract building firm apply for a tax clearance with HMRC, which will boost their cashflow by £8,000 per month once agreed. AND … leading by example, Andy filed his own tax return – and got a tax refund!
