We can offer a second opinion
Steve was asked to help a wife being divorced by her husband. Steve reviewed the valuation of the business prepared by his accountants, with the result that the lady is in line for £177,500 of additional funds as a result. This will allow her to pay off her mortgage and give her peace of mind as she faces life a single mum.
We can access the very best advice
We are a small firm, but Steve has access to the very best advice in the country. He has spent most of the week working with THE leading QC on behalf of a client facing debt recovery actin by HMRC. Between them, Steve and the QC have identified many mistakes made by HMRC which mean they cannot collect a debt we do not believe is due.
Looking ahead saves shedloads
Steve’s final meeting of the week was to show a landlord how he can limit the damage to his wealth from the changes in mortgage interest tax relief. Working with his IFA, Steve demonstrated a practical solution to his major problem. For a small initial fee, Steve will show Jim the best time to incorporate, minimising professional fees, tax and mortgage redemption fees. What could you do with that extra cash? You are welcome to pop in for a cuppa and a chat with our team – just get in touch!
Celebrating success
Steve and Rachael’s daughter passed some important medical exams this summer, meaning that she is now a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP). She was awarded her qualification at the Royal College last week. A proud parent moment!
Celebrating getting wed
Our own Paul got married last Friday. Congratulations to him and his wife Abbey.
Being compassionate
Mike successfully appealed a late filing penalty from Companies House for our client who had suffered the death of a spouse. His intervention at such a difficult time for the family saved them £750 – but more than that, Mike was able to take the burden from them when they needed to concentrate on more important things.
Corporation Tax
Mike also managed to reduce a client’s Corporation Tax debt by £6,630.97 by reclaiming the S455 Corporation Tax charged on overdrawn Director’s Loan Accounts.

Mocktails and Nibbles … and Making Tax Digital
Our Making Tax Digital workshop last month was a resounding success, with seven guests attending – ably hosted by our capable team. Andy presented, and included insights into some of the software that we use here at Numbers. Guests were reluctant to leave after the event, and picked the brains of our experts whilst sipping on mocktails.
Lower tax bills
We regularly manage to reduce our client’s tax bills, and one plumbing and heating firm benefitted from the team’s expertise this month. We really loved giving them the news that their corporation tax bill was much lower than they had feared!
