If you have visited our offices, you may have noticed that we have ‘twinned’ our loos. By supporting Toilet Twinning’s work we are part of the story of transformation that is taking place in some of the world’s poorest communities. 2.4 billion people don’t have somewhere safe, clean and hygienic to go to the loo. That’s more than a third of the people on the planet. By twinning our toilets, we are helping those in desperate poverty to have access to a proper latrine, clean water and the information they need to be healthy. And if you’re a woman, and you don’t have a loo, going to toilet in the bush will be a very fearful experience. Georgia managed to get a CIS refund of £18,691.90 for one of our clients, which they will get as a cheque. You can imagine how thrilled they are! What could you do with a sum of that size? Another of Georgia’s successes – she obtained a CIS refund of around £500 for a client which they can offset against their PAYE due. Always good news. And finally, Georgia submitted an EPS for CIS for two further clients last week. This means that one client can claim back a massive £15,000 from HMRC and the other a handy £508.50. Following an initial consultation a client has decided to implement a cloud based accounting & practice management solution using @Xero & @WorkFlowMax. We estimate that this will save a member of their team at least a day a week in processing time. Also, Andy completed WorkFlowMax advisor training and is now a certified advisor on that (in addition to Xero) too.

And finally, some FANTASTIC news … our own Andy is going to become a dad! We are thrilled to announce the first ‘Numbers baby’ – huge Congratulations to Andy and Orlagh.

A multi-coloured surprise awaited Andy and Rachael’s arrival on April 1st. Their respective offices were half filled with balloons… Various pranks were carried out during the morning – all in the spirit of ‘Making Lives Better’. Thank goodness it lasted for only 3 hours on a Friday!!

After extensive research, Steve was able to implement some planning for a client that will save him over £1,800,000 in Inheritance Tax. Not only that, the structure will also protect the heirs’ estates from IHT on the same assets. Steve says, “the client is naturally delighted, and I really enjoyed the technical interplay of Stamp Duty Land Tax, Capital Gains Tax, and Inheritance Tax.” (but then he always was a bit strange!)

Georgia successfully received a refund of PAYE for £880.55 for one of our clients. We enjoy getting refunds for our clients!

Steve held a meeting with one of our clients last week, and is working on a new project that should make it a lot easier to get in touch with us. Watch this space for future developments!

Steve helped a client of ours complete a form that is required as part of a court case. She was very nervous about getting it wrong, but now feels she can get it done with our help.
